Philippines: Promoting Court Excellence

NCSC is supporting the implementation of the International Framework for Court Excellence in the Philippines. At the close of 2011, NCSC facilitated a workshop on implementing the Framework. NCSC’s Dan Hall and Chief Justice Robert J. Torres of the Supreme Court of Guam, with the support of USAID, the Supreme Court and the Judicial Academy of the Philippines, conducted the workshop with the aim to enhance the capacity of the courts to develop innovative ways to improve access, strengthen transparency, reduce backlog, and simplify procedures. The Supreme Court’s Benchmark news publication call the Framework a structured method for employing limited resources of the courts effectively.

The International Framework for Court Excellence was developed by NCSC experts in cooperation with experts from Australia, Singapore, and the United States and with the support of the World Bank.
