Bahamas: Gang Investigation and Prosecution Workshop

On August 6-7 2015, NCSC organized a Gang Investigation and Prosecution Training workshop in Nassau, The Bahamas. The training is part of ongoing efforts between NCSC and the U.S. State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), to improve prosecutorial capacity in the Caribbean region and to strengthen the rule of law.

The training workshop helped develop law enforcement best practices and enhanced the capacity of prosecutors and police investigators to confront the rising threat of organized crime in The Bahamas and regionally.

As part of the INL CBSI regional rule of law initiative, the Gang Investigation and Training Workshop not only presented a uniform set of best practices established at other workshops in the region, but also focused on the current legislation and protocols in The Bahamas to maximize the effectiveness of current and future efforts to curb gang related violence and crime.
