Caribbean: Eastern Caribbean Trial Advocacy Training

On July 20-22, 2015, the U.S. State Department Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), NCSC and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), implemented a 3-day Trial Advocacy workshop in Antigua for prosecutors from the Eastern Caribbean States.

Participants received specialized training on strategies and approaches to presenting cases and evidence in the courtroom.

The workshop was the first in a series of training sessions to be held throughout the Caribbean to assist prosecutors in effectively and successfully bringing criminals to justice. The workshops will culminate in a regional trial advocacy competition that will allow prosecutors from across the Caribbean to put the lessons learned in workshops to the test against their peers in the region. The trial advocacy workshop series is part of INL’s Justice Sector Assistance program for the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), implemented by NCSC.
