Bahamas: Training Judges on Sentencing and Plea Agreement

From June 23 to 24, 2016, NCSC hosted a sentencing and plea agreement workshop in Nassau for members of the Bahamian Judiciary.

Four senior U.S. judges shared their experience with sentencing and plea agreements and engaged participants in comparative sentencing assessments, and case scenario exercises. The interactive debates allowed participants to consider the relevance of plea agreements to the Bahamian legal system.

The Chief Justice of the Bahamas, the Honorable Sir Hartman Longley, expressed his gratitude to the presenters for their engaging presentations, and for beginning an important conversation on the applicability of plea agreements to the Bahamian judicial system.
