Eastern Caribbean: Enhancing Courtrooms through Technology

From April 3 – 7, 2017, NCSC and its partners hosted a program on court technology enhancements for delegates from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

The delegation included Her Ladyship, the Hon. Chief Justice, Dame Janice M. Pereira, DBE; the Chief Registrar, Mrs. Michelle John-Theobalds; the Court Administrator, Mr. Gregory Girard; and the Court Information Technology Manager, Mr. Mark Ernest.

The study program included meetings with court leadership and court information technology experts at the Fairfax County Court of Virginia, and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to discuss technology enhancements in those courts. The delegates also attended a demonstration of advanced audio visual technology for courts at Cisco System, and met with Professor Fredric Lederer (Chancellor Professor of Law, and Director of the Center for Legal and Court Technology) at the McGlothlin Courtroom at William & Mary Law School, for an overview and discussion of some of the latest innovations in courtroom technology.

The delegates also had the opportunity to meet with the Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the Hon. Anna Blackburne-Rigsby. NCSC would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hon. Anna Blackburne-Rigsby and our other partners for their generous participation in this program.

NCSC regularly hosts international delegations at its offices in the United States and we invite you to contact us should you wish to discuss the possibility of scheduling a visit. For more information on training programs offered by NCSC, please visit www.ncsc.org/Education-and-Careers.aspx
