Nicaragua: Building Capacity of Civil Society Organizations

In June 2019, the Program to Strengthen Rule of Law in Nicaragua concluded its Certification Course for local civil society organizations (CSO). The course instructed staff of local organizations on rule of law and information and communications technology and conducted exercises that enabled similar organizations to forge networks and alliances with one another. Attendees also learned about monitoring and evaluation strategies as well as how to implement a final evaluation during the exit phase of a project.

54% of attendees had less than three years of experience working at a CSO, and all participants agreed that the course had improved their capacity to conduct their work effectively.

The Program to Strengthen Rule of Law in Nicaragua is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and implemented by NCSC.
