NCSC is working with the Free Legal Aid Agency, the Bar Association, and live legal clinics in law faculties across Kosovo to increase awareness of legal services and access to free legal advice and assistance. In October 2019, students of the live legal clinic at Haxhi Zeka University in Peja set up a “Tree of Rights”, an interactive art installation to promote awareness of free legal aid services and the university’s live legal clinic. Students and citizens displayed written messages about legal rights, legal aid services, and suggested improvements to the legal system. In November, NCSC organized Open Legal Hours in Prizren, during which students of the live legal clinic, supervised by licensed pro-bono lawyers, provided free legal aid services and information to low-income citizens and members of marginalized communities.
The Justice Matters Activity in Kosovo is implemented by NCSC under a contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
